The LimeWire Gateway is an easy way to connect to the Gnutella Network. The Gateway acts as a router to help the user connect to the network in such a way that the user is exposed to as much of the network as possible, and hence, as many files and as much information as possible. Furthermore, the Gateway will minimize the user's exposure to bottlenecked areas of the network.

The LimeWire™ software automatically connects to the LimeWire Gateway on startup, but those of you not using LimeWire, you can still take advantage of this excellent service. Simply enter "router.limewire.com" as the initial connection in your Gnutella software, to use the LimeWire Gateway host connection service. We encourage you, however, to use the LimeWire software in conjunction with the LimeWire Gateway because you will be able to take advantage of one of LimeWire's unique features -- the ability to enter into open clusters devoted to certain interest groups or computing classes, thereby optimizing your search process.
